Warning, I am not in a great mood

Are you for real? You want US to help you choose a handgun for YOU to carry? Are you asking which we feel is better quality, which fits your hand the best, which you can shoot the best? What one of those options is the most cost effective tool for personal deffense?

Sorry, I just have a hard time making a recomendation on what a STRANGER should purchase based on no perameters.

Sorry, guess I can't play nice tonight!

Alright, I am gonna try again...

I am partial to the 1911 and would most definately go for it over the P250 due to it's being slim and the best combat handgun of all time! However, I would go for a lighter weight version for EDC...like the S&W 1911PD on my side now.

Just for the love of the gun I would get the 5" GI, because I have one and I love it. For carry purposes though, maybe the 4" model or the P250 would be more comfortable...

If you don't have a 1911 yet,my personal opinion is by all means go with the SA 1911 5"
5" gives you better sight radius and accuracy over 4" and no matter what anyone says, better reliability, one inch on barrel has nothing to do with concealbility its the grip that determines that!Once you become accustom to a single action 1911 that's all you'll ever want! Believe me!I have 1911's and sigs, both are good,I love a 1911

I think one of the previous posters said it best. If you go with a vanilla 1911, then you are bound to want to upgrade it out of the box. The Sig will be ready to rock and roll from day one. If I were to get a 1911, it would be a better one.

I'm not asking you to choose what I would carry, I'm asking for your input on the pros and cons of each weapon.

For a carry gun, the P250 will be lighter.

For just general shooting, I'd take the 5" 1911 - less recoil and the potential for a better trigger.

trigger on either 1911 absolutely OWNS the p250 trigger in my humble opinion.

i was told this once when very mildly entertaining the idea of getting one and after i shot one i agreed 100%. not a great trigger on the p250 for me.
