Ok, I have a p250 two-tone on layaway at gunshop for $499. I pick it up Feb 5th.
I just found out they have a springfield 5" 1911 GI for $499 and a 4" GI for $529.
Do I want to stick w/ my sig, or switch to the 1911, if so which size?
There is no penalty for switching firearms partway through layaway.
I am assuming (probably shouldn;t) those are all used... I would check condition and if good go with the 1911. I would go 4" cause I hae a 5". JMO.
I guess I forgot to say, all choices are brand spankin new

one thing i'm thinking about is the sale price on the P250 is farther under the MSRP than that of the 1911... so is it a better deal? idk, this is a hard decision.
I like and appreciate Sigs, but if you don't have one already, I'd go with the full-sized 1911 GI. Everyone needs at least one 1911 in their inventory.
Personally, I'm leaning toward the (full size) GI because it's not going to be my EDC. I like the heft of it and don't mind the weight because it will be for the house/truck or OC in the woods.
That's all I got... The good news is that you can't go wrong :smile:.
I plan on carrying it... my only worry would be is the 5" going to be a problem clearing the holster?
The question is which are you most comfortable shooting? There is a noticeable difference in the P250's DAO trigger and the 1911's SA trigger.
Buy the pistol that feels most comfortable to you and the one you shoot most accurately.
While the Springfield GI is a fine pistol, theres a good chance, that before too long, you'll be wanting better sights. You're better off just spending the extra cash up front, to upgrade to a different 1911 model, rather than later having dovetails cut and new sights installed on the GI slide. I learned this the hard way.

May I suggest you go with the proven commodity..SA 1911 GI 4".
I appreciate all the input, I see 4 people have voted for the P250, I would really like to hear why you chose that option, the only 1911 voters have explained to me why
Judging by your avatar, you have a XD already?
I would choose the sig based on familiarity with what you already have and then get the 1911 later , and then slowly become acustom to it.
Unless of course you have owned a 1911 before . then its probably a moot point, and the choice would be upon what your gut tells you,, but then you have a 250 on layaway now, and not vice versa. Could be you already had this conversation with your
gut.

I'm leaning towards the P250, I do really want a 1911, but I think I will wait untill I can get something with better sights, maybe a para GI expert. I havn't decided for sure but thats the way I'm leaning
Get the Para GI Expert. I have one and it is very solid - accurate and reliable. Three dot sights are decent too.Quote:
