It's as thick as any other full size double stack 9mm pistol and it actually may be thinner than some. As for weight, it's surprising light for the size and although the bore axis seems high, the recoil is very soft. FN really did a great job with the 9mm.
It claims to have a lower bore axis, although it doesn't look it.

i've never shot one, but i hear nothing but good things. they seem to be offering HK usp safety features with this new FNX pistol--i like that for 2 reasons: the FN's come with 3 mags, and they are hundreds less in price than HK's!

I have two FNP 40's and they shoot great, they are about the same size as a XD. My wife shoots one, even with the double row mag she has no problem . Also they come with two backstraps, I believe the new model will also. The three mags is a nice touch. The only issue is a lack of accesories, holsters are scarce but can be found.

I like the new look of the decocker/safety. Here's a PRO-9, manufactured by FNH for Browning. It has since been discontinued, but was referred to as the civilian version of the FNP-9.

To big for me to consider for a CCW but I am in the market for a new home defense gun :) I'll definetly have to give these a look.

FN is well respected. It may be a nice pistol but...low bore axis? Compared with what? A Gyrojet or a Dardik perhaps?

That Chiappa Rhino revolver, reviewed elsewhere here on the Forum, has a low bore axis. This Helfricht .25 has a low bore axis.

While it is just a matter of semantics, the text seems to suggest that the "low bore axis" causes the gun to shoot with a flatter trajectory.

I was looking at an FNP 45 earlier as a camping pistol. I agree it looks chunky. But I like the ambi features as my wife is a lefty. What's the difference between FNP and FNX.....Shorter barrel?

Different frame. The FNX has the fully ambi frame, similar to the FNP 45. I have the 45, it is a full size gun, but feels good in the hand.

I have both the FNP-9 and the FNP-40 and I couldnt be happier. I carry either one OWB or IWB with a Cross Breed Supertuck and its just fine. I'm not a big guy either. I'm looking forward to adding a FNX to my collection.
I carry a .357mag because no one bickers about the .357mag being "enough".
