Next Glock: 45 ACP or 45 GAP

I am ready for my next Glock, and I have narrowed the choice in caliber to either a 45 ACP or a 45 GAP. I know that ACP ammo is cheaper by about $5/box over GAP ammo in my area. Availaility of either in my area is not an issue (for now at least). I also see that a GAP pistol is cheaper than an ACP. With that being said:
    1. For those who have shot both in either a compact or subcompact Glock, which do you prefer and why?
    2. Any significant differences in recoil?
    3. Any issues with reliability?
    4. Any performance issues, such as accuracy, of the ACP versus the GAP?
    Thanks.

Rides: 2006 GTO with my turbo system and tune (635 RWHP); 2009 H-D Street Glide with many mods

    1. There is no .45 ACP compact, only sub-compact.
    2. .45GAP feels roughly like .45ACP+P - sort of.
    3. I'm told by folks at GLOCK that GAP is the most accurate ammo in a GLOCK pistol. I haven't shot enough of it to form my own opinion.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

I really think the concept of 45 ACP is good, and the round itself has proven to be good, but my fear would be the availability of ammo.

Do you mean 45 GAP? The concept of 45 ACP is that is has brought us through two world wars and is a tried and true self defense round.

45 ACP. I really don't see where the shorter case of the GAP offers any advantage.

You can grab a very nice new Glock 39 (.45 GAP) for less than 400.00 all over Gunbroker. I bought one on a lark as I love the baby glock form factor more than my Glock 30 (too thick), and I am now in love with the thing. I don't care about long term viability as I bought enough SD ammo online to hold me until I am bored with the pistol. On the FMJ front, I find plenty. Try them and get what you like.

The round feels very smooth (close to 9mm in recoil) and I love that form factor. I may go grab a Glock 38 soon (the G19 equivalent).

I agree that you can find the ammo now, but you might not in the future.

I would get the GAP.....because I reload, and it is the only caliber made by glock (other than .380) I don't already own.

For me it's like a computer with hardware (the Glock), and software (the ammo).

The hardware is no good if there's no software available for it.

My local store has no GAP as there is no demand for it.

My vote is ACP all the way.
