I may be wrong but I believe no handguns in or through Canada period.

When hunting I shipped my handgun/s to Alaska or took them as checked baggage on the plane.

Yes, CA is very strict on transporting handguns. Best bet would be to ship to FFL in Fairbanks if traveling the AK Hwy.
Google "Canadian Handgun laws" and go from there.

You will not be able to transport your handguns through Canada into Alaska. Don't plan on it, don't try it...it could get very 'costly' if caught.

Yep, leave home without it. (Check my location)

Ship 'em and pick 'em up in Alaska, then ship 'em back.

On my hunting trips Long guns (Shotguns / Hunting rifles , etc) werent a problem to take into Canada but you do have to fill out ownership paper work at the border and pay a fee for a permit. Not sure what restrictions on certain types of long guns but I would check the laws first to make it easier on yourself.

Alaska is in the states. Don't know if Alaskans are sensitive about this or not. In Hawaii, they hate to hear "Back in the States..."

Depending on your funds you may want to check the Ferry system from Seattle. You can load your vehicle an cruise up the coast with stops in some very beautiful places. Not sure about transport of a pistol but I would imagine it isn't an issue.

Costly as in jail time, loss of handgun and automobile. Don't do it.
