I never spent more than $400 for a 1911 (SA Mil-Spec and Colt 1991A1) and I don't have problems. I've seen the pretty ones jam and not function any better, which makes me wonder if spending more money gets me anything of any real value.

Ed Brown. While you're at it, send me one of his Kobra Carry SS pistols too.

Wilson makes some nice pistols, but I'm sorry, they are getting alittle too pricey. I would say either the Ed Brown "Special Forces" or the Les Baer "Thunder Ranch".

Wilsons are nice, but pricey as mentioned. I'm still checking around butam leaning toward the Ed Brown, it'll go on the cc so price won't be the issue, I just want something really nice but without spending a fortune. I see the Ed brown has an accuracy of 11/2 inches at 50 yards, way beyond my capability to shoot but better advertised accuracy than the others (1" @ 25 yards).
This won't happen for a good 4-5 months anyway, next purchhase in immediate future is something to replace my Mak, probably a Kel-Tec PF-9

I tried one of those IMI Bul polymer frame 1911 also sold by Charles Daly in the US, quite a nice gun for a reasonable price. To bad they don't seem to have commander model.

Ordered an Ed Brown Special Forces about 5 or 6 weeks ago. Still don't have it yet. But I looked at the same pistols, and ended up with the EB.

I know it may not be the choice of others but I carry a G-21 Glock, with a G-30 Glock backup. They are my working guns as a Peace Officer and my citizen carry guns when out of uniform.......My size allows me to carry them concealed without any problem. I am a Glock fan then Sig or any good 1911. Not dictating for anyone else other than myself. Everyone should carry whatever they can hit with; because in the final analysis accuracy is the deciding factor. The deed must be done with a sense of urgency in a calm methodical manner.....practice until subconcious competency is achieved and pray that the Lord will direct you from ever having to use your gun.
