Or, unloading the chambered round after carry?
That would be a short range trip indeed. For the most part I unload thru the muzzle. I shot a beaver a couple of days ago.

Mag springs wear from constant load/unload. If the mags are in either state, they are fine.

For example, I was deployed for 15 months....I left 2x P229/.40 mags, 2x P239 mags and 5x Magpul PMAGs loaded in my safe. When I got back, I shot all of them...all fed correctly...no problems.

One of my former bosses carries his XDm with only 8 rounds instead of 16 for less carry weight.

A typical 165gr S&W round weighs about 240 gr. Eight rounds would weigh about 1,920 gr or 4.5 oz. 16 would be about 9 oz.

He's got a 32 oz (empty) gun. Add in the weight of the loaded magazine and he can tell a difference in weight on his hip of 4.5 ounces??

I think he is deluding himself, as well as being foolish.
