Simple. There are better guns with higher capacity and proven SD rounds that are smaller and easier to carry.

    A) Too big
    B) weights too much
    C) Slower to draw out
    D) Slow to re-load
    E) Extra ammo too bulky
    F) Slugs may be too soft to penetrate a car door if needed
    G) Can't smart carry

3" 410 slugs suck in a handgun. You would be better off firing 45 colt in it.

While a Judge may be a little large to carry concealed, it does make a good gun to carry in the console of your pickup or car. They also work well when back packing. I can assure you that if you load it with .45 LC rounds, they will penetrate a car door. I have found my Judge to be a lot more handy than people give them credit for. They're sort of a specialty gun but being a Taurus doesn't mean there is a thing wrong with them. I own several guns made by Taurus and they have all served me well.

What ASHTXSNIPER said, also there are far better defensive rounds than .45 long colt out there. While not the most efficient gun to carry though I do think that it has its place somewhere... I have yet to find where. But when I find a purpose I will get one. :-)

Because I do not like .410 for SD; even less in a handgun

Before I would buy a Judge for carry, I would buy a Charter Arms Bull Dog in 44sp.

410 shot shells work well in 18" or longer barrels where all the powder can burn in the barrel for effect of hit power.

Somebody needs to produce a revolver that chambers whatever caliber equivalent there is for 12 gauge. That, I would buy.
