Look for some opinions on Glock

So, Im thinking my next pistol may be a Glock. My NRA Instructor ( who proceeded over my CCW course ) is a through, and through Glock man. This morning I was at a local gun shop / indoor range and a guy was shooting a Glock 19, and I got to talking to him. I was holding his gun, and he even offered to let me fire it. I fired a 12 rounds through it, and wow.. It seems to be VERY ergonomic. Shoots very smooth. only thing is, it sure is ugly ( Seems all Glocks are ). I know it's not important, but I do like my guns to be not only well built, but I like for them to be aesthetically pleasing as well..

Anyways I'm really kind of looking for a pros, and cons on Glock guns.

    Thanks alot guys!

Well you have to learn to love the look of a Glock but once you do there is no better sd carry gun (IMHO only) there is nothing to get caught up on there is no external safty to flip, the recoil is good and most of all the glock with go bang every time.

Glock is a proven war horse.
And really, I don't care how "ugly" my weapon is; It's a tool.
I don't care near as much how pretty it might be; I'm more
concerned with how deadly it will be. The only time anyone
will see it besides me and mine, is the person on the wrong end of it.

Yes, they are an acquired taste, but there’s a reason why they’re so popular.
Currently, I don't have one although if I ever return to a semi-auto, a Glock Gen4 would be it.

Awesome, thanks. I'm more of a old school 1911 style kind of gun. But, I could see the glock growing on me...

Ugly , Dont fit my Hand at all, Not made in the USA, But will go bang everytime, I went with three M&P,s and am very happy,They are good looking guns, fit me like a glove , made in the USA , and go bang everytime as well.
M&P wins 4 to 1 in my case.

I prefer my XD over a glock simply because it feels more comfortable in my hands.

With that being said, that's an opinion and not a fact. Besides preferring the feel of other guns, I wouldn't hesitate to carry one and trust my life to it.

I don't bash those who own and love them, but they're just not for me. (Yet... I'm sure I'll end up with one years down the line.)

For some time my brother-retired police officer-try to convince me that Glock was the way to go.I was not convince that Glock was all that they say it is.One thing I notice is that in every forum I read the Glock was compared to every gun from Sig to HK to everything in the market.I figured with my lightening fast mind(several yrs to figure this out) that there must be someting about this gun.I decided to buy Glock23-since then I have purchase the G36 and have not looked back.Say what you want about grip angle
    - it being tupperware and all. This is by far the best handgun pound for pound- dollar for dollar that you can buy today. And yes I do own several other guns-1911,Kahr,Browning,Keltec,Ruger,Eaa,etc,etc.You will not go wrong with a Glock.

    Pros and Cons...

I have two Glocks that I use frequently, but dozens of others that are not Glocks. I see the main pros and cons of Glocks as:

    Pros
    1. Very reliable.
    2. Same trigger pull on every shot - no DA/SA transition.
    3. No manual safeties to forget - safeties are all internal and automatic.
    4. Lightweight, fairly slim and easy to conceal.
    5. Priced right.
    6. Lots of accessories available.
    7. Plenty of ammo capacity.
    8. Tough, rugged, durable - can take abuse.

    Cons
    1. Ergonomics don't suit everybody.
    2. Plain looking, maybe even ugly.

On balance Glocks are excellent guns, and I'd buy another. I have tried to make mine more attractive by hard chrome on the slides.

Personallly im not a fan of the Glocks. I have a 22 for a duty weapon and although its never failed me Ive seen a lot of stove pipes and other little problems with them. I know the abuse those weapons take and still fire more often than not makes them reliable. And I trust mine, I would just rather carry an XD or an M&P. Check out the XD'S 20,000 round touture test it sold me. I have a subcompact xd 9mm as off duty weapon. I am not saying theres anything wrong with glocks except the fact they are ugly but Im just not on the bandwagon. But im also a believer in w.e is comfortable for you whether its a highpoint or a beretta or a taurus or a kimber.

I didn't mean thats what I wanted to HEAR.. I mean thats how I wanted a response.. like the ideal response would be a list of pros and cons... Sorry for the confusion
