Brand New XD-40 Compact Problem w/Holster

This morning I purchased my first automatic pistol, a Springfield XD-40 Compact. It came in a nice case with two mags, speed loader, dual magazine holder, locking cable and a plastic holster, all included in the purchase price. Great deal for a very nice weapon.

Everything works great with the exception of the plastic holster. It is binding and scraping the weapon. I have backed out the tension spring at the bottom until it came out of the nut and it's still too tight, when I get the weapon into it I can't get it out.

    Anyone else have this problem?

I have purchased another leather holster OWB and it works great, but I would like to be able to use the plastic one in the winter when I have the clothing to cover it up.

Yes, the XD Gear holsters are not very good. I don't use mine either.

The XD Gear, unfortunately, is pure JUNK! Springfield makes really good handguns, not so good plastic pieces of garbage. This is one reason I went to Pure Kustom was to replace that "holster." I also replaced the mag holder, and the mag loader with an UpLula magazine loader.

Awesome pistol, gear that comes with it.

The XD gear is mostly junk to get you to buy the gun. (this from a guy with two XDs!) Ditch the XD gear and buy something that is better made for a paddle holster. I carry OWB in a Galco leather holster or IWB in a tuckable made by Kholster. They are both great.

Actually i kinda like my paddle holster that Springfield Armory sent me when i emailed and told them i was left handed. one has to get used to how to put it on and take it off, but it is better than the one that the belt slips through that came with it. now that is not very friendly holster. my personal opinion is that ALL of these type of holsters wear on the gun.
But i hooked up with carl at a gun show in St Joe MO and i got me a what is called the convertable. actually got to try it on take it off, a really great holster, mine should be here in the next couple weeks, the one i tried on was a right hand and of chourse i am LEFTY.

Being a lefty, Springfield sent me a paddle holster for my XD and I kinda like it. Retention is good, easy to draw from. and easy to take off when I enter those "no gun zones"

One of the few things in life that was worth more than I paid for it. "they sent it out at N/C"

The belt holster that comes with the XDs is nothing special, but like the others above, I have an XD-Gear Paddle holster that came with my XDm and it's not too bad at all IMO, I wear it all the time and it's comfortable and doesn't seem to show any wear on my guns..

The holster that comes with the XD's are junk. I wish they'd include another mag instead and not waste the plastic!

the magazine speed loader and the magazine pouch are not bad but the holster does stink. Get a nice leather one, you won't regret it.
There is something about firing 4,200 thirty millimeter rounds/min that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
