First time shooting my new Kimber ultra CDP II

Went to the range on saturday. We have a new indoor range about 2 miles from my house, and I believe ill be there weekly from now on.
Anyhow, I bought a barely used if at all ultra cdp II. It was just slightly dirty, other than that, I couldnt tell it had ever been shot.
I went and bought the cheapest winchester .45 ammo I could find. $32/100 rnds at wallyworld. Loaded up the first clip, aimed at a hostage scenario target and planted all 7 rounds in the head of the assailant at 7 yards. first clip grouped at about 6 inches. after a couple more I was grouping at about 3 inches. I will be the first to admit I dont have the best shot. Due to some nerve damage in my hands it is fairly hard to hold very steady. But the weight and feel of the ultra was just right for me. I tried out my buds new s&w 442 with ct laser grip and wasnt able to group as tight as the kimber.
I shot 100 rounds with ZERO failures of any sort. I had one user error fault when my buddy shot the ultra he held his thumb under the safety and accidently pushed it up a little which caused the hammer to not strike. (I hold my thumb above the safety) which is comfortable for me. Other than that tiny issue I had no problems at all. I did a couple rapid fire clips and some on purpose limp wristing to try to get any failure and ZERO. I am extremely pleased with this gun and would suggest it to anyone who is looking into the ultra sized 1911 platform.

Glad to hear you're liking it! That is a great pistol you have there, should serve you well. Now you have to post the obligatory photos.

My Kimber Ultra CDP II is the sweetest shooting pistol that I have. You didn't say what you paid for it but I'm certain that you don't have buyers remorse. I don't and I paid $1,000.

I have the 9mm version of the Ultra CDP II. I've learned she likes to run wet. Like yours - she is crazy accurate.

I also learned the difference between a clip and a magazine.

Congrats on buying a great firearm!

My little Ultra Raptor II eats everything I feed it with Zero malfunctions. I also rest my thumb on top of the safety... It feels more natural and there's no way It can be accidentally deployed In a SD situation.

Man I love the Ultra CDP II, great report. Keep us updated!
I carry a .357mag because no one bickers about the .357mag being "enough".

Great pistol and report. Sounds like you are enjoying it.

I was with a friend recently and he found a used Kimber very similar to yours for a great price. It looked as though it had barely been fired and he got it for about half of what they are worth. It was fitted with Crimson Trace grips as well.

To the OP, I hope to share your enthusiasm one day. I go drool over the Kimbers any chance I can get.
