    Taurus 740 slim .40 cal

Anyone know when the 740 slim will be availiable? Im always looking for smaller carry options but wanted to stay with .40 cal. Never been a real fan of Taurus, but I would like to see how this gun performs. Although it would be very hard to throw down $400.00 for this gun when another hundred would get me a Glock 27.

Nope. I wish I had waited for it. I bought a XD40sc and after carrying the 709 Slim, it just feels so bulky IWB. I love my 709...when the 740 comes out, I may just have to have one.

There's the Springield EMP, but it's a heavy and expensive gun. Very nice weapon...I'd just sit and stare at it, but not something I would carry a lot.

There is also the Kahr PM40, CW40. The CW series is really pretty inexpensive for a finely built pistol.

It will be interesting to see what the controlibility of the PT740 is like.
I have a PT709 and it's not too bad, but a .40 that small has to be something else for rapid fire.

Very true. To me, the 709 isn't as snappy as other small 9mm...so it will be interesting to see how that translates into the 40. I've noticed in my XD40sc, as I get towards the end of the magazine the recoil is more noticable. I'm assuming the weight of the rounds in the double stack magazine assist with dampening recoil.

Yes, but it doesn't have the trigger system of the SLIM line. Also, I believe the all of the Millenium Pros are pretty tall (Over 5"), while the SLIM line is not. However, the .45 will probably have to be wider due to a larger slide, so it might not be something they'll make.

I would think the 740 will be quite a handful. However, the 709 seems to be a little softer shooting than other subcompact 9mms, so the 740 might be softer shooting compared to other SC .40's. It'll be interesting.

I would also be very curious about the recoil.
