Just wondering what the thoughts are of a Springfield XD40 SC vs. an Officer's size 1911 (for IWB carry). I have the XD, but am falling for a small 1911.
I can't do anything without the input from anonymous people on the internet.
Thanks.

Freedom of speech does not excuse one from freedom of thought.
They'd both do the job just fine. The 1911 is going to be thinner of course, which may add to the comfort level for certain body types/holster configurations. I'm an XD man personally and love my subcompact XD. I'd also be pretty sad if I had to use a nice 1911 in a defensive situation and the police confiscated it for evidence.
Strictly speaking of IWB carry (and absolutely nothing to do with brand, materials, caliber, etc, etc, etc), the officers 1911 is the better choice, IMO. It's thinner, and an ounce or two lighter, which (for me) makes it more comfortable to IWB carry.
When I went shopping recently for a new CC pistol, the XD was at the top of the list for me. But as soon as I held it, I knew it wouldn't work - for me - due to being a bit on the wide side.
YMMV...

I have the XD SC .40 and a Kimber UCII 1911. I personally prefer to carry the Kimber IWB, mainly because it's thinner. I love my XD, but it's kind of fat. If I'm carrying in my "loincloth" holster, then it really doesn't matter, but since I got my Kimber, I've just been carrying IWB.
No brainer - the 1911 [or just about any single stack] is the better option for IWB. Yeah, you give up capacity, but the increase in comfort is well worth it. seriously, you won't be sorry. I'm looking for a 1911 myself this year and am considering a Colt Defender, Kimber Ultra or Pro Tactical II, a Para SS 1911 OPS or a Springfield EMP 40.

I too would go for the 1911, I have a Springfield full size light weight and love it... they have a Loaded Champion 4" barrell Springfield Armory
I am interested in a G30 but keep think is the 2 rds worth the extra thickness to me. If I am going to do that I might as well go with a XD45 or XDM...
Love the 1911!
Go with a 1911. Kimber or SA or both solid options.
