    Black-Out Essentials

Had a blackout this past weekend and grabbed the camera since there was little else to do:

    Candle, LED Flashlight, 5" 1911 with M3 Tac-Light, and 28 total rounds of Double-Tap 200gr 10mm. Nothing else matters!

If I lived in Detroit, and was a Nazi-loving KKK member/advocate, and I was a drug dealer, and I posted a big sign outside my house that said "Lots and lots of cash inside!" .... maybe. The flashlight, tac-light, and the candle were much more the "black-out essentials" ... the gun and mags were just me putting my carry rig down on the table for a cool photo.

    A shotgun, 1911, and a carbine with 60 rounds ... paranoid much?

We recently lost our power too. My little carry light did a lot of the light work during the night.

While I generally don't feel under gunned with just my EDC, I don't really find extra tools paranoid either. An extended black out can and has lead to opportunistic crimes and looting.

    Nice photo though!

Understood .... but I guess I'm alone in the opinion that if I run the chance of being assaulted in such a fashion that 28 rounds of hot 10mm can't keep me safe .... maybe I shouldn't be sticking around.

I have a flashlight in every room. I have several flashlights that need to be shaken or wound up to give them power. I have a radio that operates the same way. I also have several chargeable and battery operated flashlights. Some of my favorites are the ones that plug into the wall and when the power goes out they automatically light up. You can never have too many lights.

I'm always well armed at home. As mentioned blackouts can cause some skells to look for a home to invade. So I am well prepared for that with a variety of long guns and handguns.

One of the most important things to have is a generator. I still have to get one of those.

Here in FL, the lightning capital of the U.S., we have outages all the time. I keep plenty of candles, oil lamps, and camp lanterns around, and it's not a problem. I do not worry about 'attacks in the dark' anymore than on a usual night. I'm always armed in the house, so life goes on the same as any other night.

    By the way, cool pic...

Same with Texas and storms that roll across here like waves across the ocean.

    4 Mag Flashlights
    Candles
    Oil Lamps
    2 Pistols
    My Shotgun (Just in case).

I should add at least a 12 gauge shotgun. By the way, very nice picture!
