New Gun-----Mad wife (when she finds out)
OK I had to do it. Was inventorying my collection and I realized that I do not have a PPK in any of my gun safes. My collection isn't that large but a PPK should be in everyones.
Went to the gun store looking for a PPK and they didn't have one, so I was browsing and started handling the Kahr's.
Boom there it was, the TP-9. Such a sweet well balanced 4" barrel Kahr. I had recommended Kahr K-9 when they first came out and my dad has sworn it to me upon his death, so I never really thought about buying one cause I knew some day I'd have one.
BUT (ahhh dont we love the buts) this one was brand stinking new and the gun manager explained that his company would no longer carry this particular model and he had reduced the price that morning.
Sticker shock left my wallet empty. Brand new in the box out the door for $400.
Nice story and all is well, until the day comes when the woman I married happens to spot the new piece of iron (and plastic) on my hip and question about its purchase.
Oh well, its been a few years and it really is such a sweet weapon. To bad the PPK will have to wait a while.
(Ohhh ya before ya'al yell about pictures, be patient its on lay away till payday and when i get it, you'll get pics).
Now I have to think holsters. Seems like the folks at Sparks will be getting a couple hundred of my hard earned tax payers dollars for another Summer Special and Mag pouch.
Later all, have another mission to pack for. I took 6 days for the per diem (gee got a new gun to pay for).

Yep, wives only stay mad for a few years at a time - so go ahead and order the holster right now.

Try this:
"Babe, I had this for a couple of years - don't you remember? You shot it at the Regionals last year!"
O.K., it didn't work for me either, but it can't hurt to try...

That sounds fair.
Oh, no! NEVER use that! I did it once and man, did it backfire. Apparantly in a woman's mind fair is using the power of 3; you spent $400, she gets to spend $1200!
Congrats on the new safe addition!

Back in the old days when I was STILL married I soon learned that the real price of any new toy was what you paid for it + what you heard about it + what she spent to get over it. I always made allowance for 3 to 4 times the value of the new toy and was never let down when I got the bill.

But honey its just the illegetimate love child of my sig and my glock

So that's what guns do when they are alone and unsupervised in the safe.
Hm, now that I think about it, I wish it was. I'd make'em breed like bunnies. I'd even put a TFT in there, displaying a slideshow of CombatCarry gun pr0n - to get them in the mood.
Ah, well, back to the topic...
Depending on how many guns you already have and how well your wife knows them, the "I've had this, like, forever"-tactic might work. But don't count on it. Somehow, they always know when you are hiding something from them, those Bene Gesserit witches.
Better collect hubby-points by being honest. Buy something for her, too, then chalk it up to some bogus anniversary.

so let me ger this straight.
You wanted a PPK. You bought a Kahr.
Your wife is going to kill you, again.
You STILL don't have a PPK.

Best to try to get her into shooting.
That finally lessened the noise from my Wife when I want to buy a new gun. She's getting to understand my desire for new toys better now . . . ain't perfect but we're getting there slow but sure.

The differance between being in poop with the wife and being in the good books is a very thin line, it's so easy to cross from the good to the bad, so you might as well go ahead and do it as long as the bank account can handle it. I always butter her up for a few weeks ahead, telling her the gun I want is $xxx.00 (normally 10-15% above the real price) and then annouce that I found one at a far better price and have agreed to buy before someone else steals the "deal"
