PT709 Pocket Carry

I pocket carry my Taurus PT709 a lot. This weekend it was 12 to 15 hours a day and I never noticed it was there...and neither did anyone else. I frequently see people post that they can't pocket carry this pistol and I don't understand why not. Perhaps the difference is my custom-made 709 pocket holster.

My buddy (who does automotive paint and upholstery) made me this pocket holster below out of auto interior leather. It is thin and durable. I drew the design out on paper using the gun as a guide and I made it the same size and shape as my pants pockets. This thing rides perfect, stays put when drawing, doesn't print, and covers the trigger. All things you want a pocket holster to do. It essentially is a leather pocket liner cut to have good grip access.

Hopefully this will shed some light on how I pocket carry and perhaps give others creative ideas for aiding pocket carry.

I pocket carry my M&Pc all the time with no problems. I think its all in the jeans that your have. One of my jean pockets is so big, I can pocket carry my full sized S&W.

I carry mine in a DeSantis Nemsis made for the Kahr PM9, as the one DeSantis recommends also fits the Glock 27, covers part of the grip and makes it hard to draw.

Wear the Cabela's 7 pocket hiker pants, or the Columbia shorts and there is plenty of room to carry, draw and not print. The extra pocket in front of the bellows pocket you carry in helps break up any pattern.

Nice set up, any way you could measure the height of this pistol from bottom of magazine to top of the slide and post your findings?

Oddly enough, my XD40sc fits in it perfectly as well. I pocket carried it today in suit pants, no problem.

He made me another one for my S&W Snub 38s. Works great. Same basic shape excpet for the length and top shape. I design the shape to optimize coverage and grip access for that particular pistol. Lay the pistol out on a piece of printer paper and take measurements and shape of your pocket. Draw the pocket on the paper, lay the pistol down and decide the length and shape of the top. He then doubles the shape (butterfly) and sews one seam.

Friend of mine told me about a Galco PRO460 leather pocket protector holster that fits and secures a Kel-tec PF-9 and the Ruger LCP perfectly and comfortably in the front pocket. Easy to draw, re-holster, and the holster STAYS in the pocket.

Can't believe it was as good a quality and the mouth was reinforced as good as it was for $19 on Opticsplanet.com. I almost feel like a cheapo but this was really worth getting in my opinion.
