Congrats on the PT1911! I have an all stainless one that's been 100%. I can't make that statement about my Kimber & Springer.

Sorry, it looks like you have the 1911 bug. The only cure is to get another to keep the Taurus company! Congrats on the .45, you'll enjoy shooting it.

Congrats, I had one and traded it off, but it was 100% with about 250 rounds down the barrel. I also have a friend that has one and he has not had one problem with his either. I hope your new 1911 serves you well, and you can bet it will not be your last.

    Hey GM,
You being a longtime member I feel you could shed light on my 1st 1911 choice. I have the alum frame on layaway but having 2nd thoughts of maybe should have gotten blue steel version for range shooting and truck carry. Not going to be a ccw.Your thoughts?
    Thanks for your reply,
    Eddie

I've got a Taurus PT1911, had it for about two years now and bought it used. I've put about 1,500 rounds through it, don't know what the count was before me. Both of my thumb safeties are still attached and positively engage. I love it man, good price and good shooter. There was some finishing blemishes and a burr or two and the frame/slide fit is not extremely tight either, thank goodness those are not important though. Good luck and enjoy, you got yourself a good shootin' iron.

Today in the gun shop, I handled a blued PT1911 next go a stainless SA GI. From a fit an finish perspective, they both looked excellent. Honestly, the PT had a lot more features and a trigger that was much lighter and smoother than the GI.

The PT was priced @ $659, and the GI was $669.

I'm sorely tempted to purchase my first Taurus...

Congrats on the new 1911. Be careful they are addicting.

I might be mistaken, but those prices seem not good. Regardless of what you end up buying, I'd sure pony up for beavertail and extended thumb safety.
