I have a Davis .22mag with the same trigger pull problem. I thought there was actually something wrong with the trigger. I stopped carrying it because I figured the excessively hard triggger pull was a mechanical problem.

I like the stack barrel derringer concept, but only in a QUALITY firearm like American Derringer or Bond Arms. Even the High Standard. But DAVIS....I had one I bought at a gun show for $60 years ago and I had to just throw it away. Really. The damn thing literally FELL APART on me. The safety fell out of the frame. I tossed it in a landfill in several pieces. Bagged separately. Next time, I may get one in a 45LC/410 combo from Bond Arms. Or possibly a 9mm from American.
