    Which 3" 1911 to get??

I am looking to buy a 3" 1911 for EDC. I now carry a Kimber Pro Carry SLE. All stainless. Great gun and has been flawless since day one and extremely accurate. I am looking to get something a lot lighter. I love 1911 so that is why i am going with a 3". Already have Milt Sparks holsters on order. Here is the problem! I am trying to choose one out of these four:
    1. Kimber Ultra CDP II - .45
    2. Springfield Armory EMP - 9MM (not .45, but it is a beautiful gun)
    3. Colt Night Defender - .45
    4. STI Escort - .45
All four pretty much look about the same and are all around the same price. I believe all are about the same in accuracy and quality! What should i get? And no, i can't buy all four, wish i could!
Any one know of any noticeable differences between them that can help make a decision??

Forgot to add caliber. It would have to be in a .45!

If you can find an old Colt Officers model that would be my choice. It has a 3.5 inch barrel. I've had mine for about 25 years and is pretty damn accurate!

    Colt

I went through a similar decision process a few years ago and wound up with a Colt Defender. I was concerned about feeding and ejection in these 3 inch 1911s, and the bulk of comments I read seemed to favor the Colt. I have about 800 rounds through it so far with no problems.

Can I have your SLE when you're done? It's my favorite carry gun!

for 3inch 45acp i would go with the springfield armory micro operator. i would not buy an alloy frame 1911 that did not have a fully ramped barrel.

otherwise, my EMP40 is dead reliable!

    Why the EMP 9mm & not .40S&W?

I have heard the .40 is much snappier than the 9mm. Do not know if true or not, just what i have heard. would love to rent all four and try them out, but it is almost impossible to even find any of these at a gunstore here in miami. also i am trying to stick with only 2 calibers. 9mm and .45. The EMP in .40 is not out it just might be number 5 on the list.

I just ordered me an EMP, The first time a held it i knew it was the gun I wanted! I had looked at all the 3" models and keep coming back to the EMP, a little pricey so I hope it is well worth it.

Of those mentioned, I'd go with the Colt Night Defender.

Your caliber reason makes perfect sense.

My vote goes to the STI Escort. However, I prefer the STI Off Duty (steal frame)
