    Holster suggestions for revolver?

I just bought my first revolver yestereday...I have an assortment of semi autos I carry right now, mostly IWB. Is there something special I should be looking at/considering that is different for a revolver vs a semi auto. I have some larger ones like BHP that I carry now. This is a Ruger SP101. TIA for any advice.

Almost all my holsters were IWB, until I found this... FIST, INC.

The picture of the holster with the Glock is what I have...it hugs the body as closely as any of my IWB's... I have been enjoying a 'new comfort' in using an OWB holster.

    Congrats on a fine revolver
Without knowing how you normally dress and your body size and shape, I'm only going by what I like for my revolvers, so I recommend a pancake style OWB holster. I got mine from Simply Rugged and I really like it, it holds the gun firmly and really seems to disappear under a cover shirt. The nice thing about this particular holster is that it can be converted to IWB just by adding the optional straps, making it two holsters in one.

Depending on your barrel length, you may or may not find a good holster for your Ruger. I have a 3" SP 101 and I could not find a big selection of leather holsters for it when I was shopping for one a year or so ago. Things may be different now.

Most revolvers are carried OWB That cylinder is just too fat for sticking behind a waistband without being noticeable and uncomfortable. Pancake holsters are very comfortable to wear and conceal nicely under a jacket.

Kydex is noisy and bulky and the Ruger is SS so you don't have to worry about rubbing off the bluing. Buy a good leather holster instead. (My 2 cents.)

Simply Rugged pancake OWB works great for our SP101.

pure kustom holsters doesn't make holsters to fit a ruger sp101, or the gp 100 for that matter

I am thinking of trying a FIST OWB, it is the 2.25" barrel. Thanks everyone!

Just talked to Rocky, he said he'd be happy to take an order for a Ruger revolver.

I bought a SP101 a week ago and surprisingly some of my holsters for semi's fit it quite well.
