Quick answer is NO. If you don't mind the extra 1/4" of leather, it will probably aid in stability (a little) and the retention will not be affected at all by the extra length. I am assuming that neither or both have a rail?
yeah no rails. Brownells showed in stock so I picked one up. Still have a couple more months wait till my Versa max ships.
Hopefully brownells "in stock" is true.... want to carry my 1911
I spoke with the good folks at Milt Sparks a few weeks ago. They mentioned that Brownells's stocks the SSII model for 1911s and a few other popular handguns. If you go that route, you'll avoid the long wait that you'd encounter with MS directly. The small penalty is that Brownell's doesn't stock the base Summer Special, but that's almost insignificant.
My 1992-vintage SS is still going strong after 18 years!
