Kydex OWB w/o Belt
There are so many threads that do not quite get to where I am going so I will be lazy and just ask in a new thread. I have a S&W J frame 642, which I usually do not carry but if I would do so, I would prefer to carry convential kydex (I like light and slim) OWB--however I do not like belts. Anyone make such holster for OWB at waist w/o needing a belt?
You can order something like a Raven Concealment Phantom and mount the IWB clips backwards like this guy did. It's what I plan on trying when I get my holster.
Without a belt what options are you looking at to attach the holster? Velcro or staples? Even a paddle holster is most reliable with a belt. You may be better off with a belly band or thunderware.
While some holsters may work with out a belt, belts tend to help support the guns weight and spread it out . By wearing tight pants you may be able to get by without a belt.
Paddle holsters many be the best bet. My Blackhawk Serpa came with a hook built in to the paddle that would retain the paddle nicely.
I have a Serpa for my J-frame and I can tell ya that holster is a -itch to get out of my pants. The hooks grab your pants and holds on tight. While it will perform better with a belt I think it would work.
