    Holster Heresy-I like Mike

Just received an Uncle Mikes kydex paddle holster for my J frame S&W 642 that is light, very durable, stable on my OWB pants, allows for belt securing w/included hardware, infinite adjustability, very secure revolver fit, delivery in 2 days, and all for around $20. Heresy? Yes. Good buy? Yes.

You need to go with what works for you. I will not put you down for a choice that you are happy with. What burns my feathers is having someone trash one brand or other for no apparent reason. That's why there are more than one choice to choose from. Good luck with your holster.

I think if we had a holster confessional, we would all admit to a few uncle mike's products in our holster collections.

Glad to hear it works for you. Nothing wrong with Uncle Mike's stuff. One of my favorite pocket holsters is an Uncle Mike's Size 4. Fits my 642, SP101 & G26. The square bottom helps keep it upright in your pocket...

It is a shame that Mike's aren't made in the USA any more. Different quality now too but pretty much the same. They have their niche in my holster collection.

Hey Hiram: I do not know how many replies actually diss someone else's excitement but I have written many times telling people to do their due diligence, examine holster materials vs your needs/wants (nice leather vs say light and strong kydex), check prices (you can get quality for many dollars less than some other mfgr), and try and pick a mfgr who has some kind of policy of returns or working with you (how many people have a carton full of holsters for the same firearm). Lastly, the reviews we read in these forums are an indication, perhaps, of one holster mfgr or another but do not hang your hat on someone's reply--a holster is very individual and someone may rave about one, but I guarantee you there is someone out there who does not think that much of it--as a matter of fact there are replies that are written by members who only want to reinforce and feel good about their decision when they could have possibly gotten a better holster for less bucks. I have some kydex holsters that I waited for and cost me over $50 and this Mikie one for $20 bucks may be a thicker kydex but I cannot find fault with it--not for $20.

i think most people complains about mikes is not their kydex holsters. It's the nylon holsters that a lot of gun stores carry. nylon holsters are crappy and dont hold guns well.

Nothing wrong with the UM Kydex holsters. I have a couple myself. What I do object to, and won't use, it the "Fits A, B, C, and sometimes X" type of generic holster. I believe for maximum security, speed of draw, and comfort, the holster should be made to fit the specific gun.

I love all of my Uncle Mikes generic ankle holsters (I have 3 of them) but I'm not particularly fond of their IWB holsters with the plastic belt clip. Bought one for my PF9 and it fell apart in less then a week.

Hi Kelcarry, there is nothing wrong with the comments you have made, they are to the point and and give good information. I feel that as long as you get a holster that you are happy with you did ok.
