    Holster squeak

I am having an issue with my holster squeaking as I walk. It's an IWB with the kydex clips. It's actually the kydex clips squeaking as they rub against the belt that's casuing the sound. It's a friction thing, so it would seem some type of lubricant on the belt might work. But I can't think of a product that could be used for that purpose.

Anyone have any suggestions for a solution?

Try a little talcum powder, not baby powder with the oil/scent in it. Or, failing that, try rubbing some wax paper (the wax side) on the kydex, before you try the oil.

    Several ideas come to mind.
You might switch the Kydex clips for metal ones.
You might place something between the clips and belt so the clips have no contact directly with the belt...such as electrical or adhesive tape.
Maybe switching to a different belt might help.

Talc powder, a light coat of candle wax or Brownells sells a product called KZ Leather Kote which is slicker than snot for a tight holster or to get rid of creaks. Also, treat your belt in the areas the loops/clips make contact.

I had this problem when M-Tac was new. I used a dab on Mink Oil
from my shoe polish box and worked it in with my thumb under the clips where they sit on the leather. Eventually the clips will "burnish" the leather under where it rubs and it will stop squeaking. You don't have to use Mink Oil, any leather conditioner/moisturizer will do.

My grandfather (he's now 101 years old) comes to visit from time to time. We hang out in the barn. He always takes my western rig (belt/holster) and spends a couple of hours rubbing it between fingers & thumb to rejuv the leather. It works great. Just simple massaging of the leather w/a bit of oil from his hands. Give it a try while you're watching the tube (rubbing your belt I mean).

This reminds me of my old Sam Brown gear as a LEO. If I was trying to sneak up on someone in the dark, I was busted 30-feet away. My beautiful Bianchi leather would creak and squeak all the time. That's just it way it was and we didn't worry about it.

Nutural shoe polish will work on all leather stuff & it won't change the color or ruein the leather like other leather stuff will.

Wear squeeky shoes to conceal the issue.
