Make CTAC like MTAC?
Alright, back in the day I bought a CTAC for my Kimber Ultra Aegis.
I love the holster with the exception of one thing... the kydex is no fun in the hot summer heat. It sticks to my skin.
I got it before the MTAC days so I didnt have that choice, and I dont really feel like buying another one, that just seems silly to me.
Any suggestions for a material that I can somehow adher to the kydex where my skin hits it to make it more comfy?
Would need to be something cool, as this is a summer problem (in winter i can wear an undershirt), and something that wont stick to the skin.
does leather stick in the summer? could try thin leather or some fake leather like mtl

The same people who sold you the CTac also sells "moleskin". It is a "skin" of sorts designed to adhere to the back of the holster where skin contact is made. Its about $9.00 for a single piece big enough to do one holster.

You won't find "mole skin" at Walgreens. You might find felt, but not this stuff. I had a piece of it and used it but I used it on a leather holster that had already been worn for two years. It wouldn't adhere to the oily leather.
You really need something water proof to prevent body oil and sweat from penetrating the material.
If I were doing it I would look at a synthetic leather or horsehide material and get a good bonding agent to glue it to the holster.
I have a feeling though, that you are going to invest enough time, energy and money in the end to have paid for a new holster.

You cats that wear IWB against your skin are tougher than me. Why not just wear a Fruit of the Loom tank top under shirt. Very thin, extra long tail, not hot at all. If T-shirt is not an option, I would go with the moleskin from Comp-tac. Ive felt it and think it would be much more comfortable.

I actually wear underwear so mine is never against bare skin. I guess the OP here may go commando?

1st, I wear underwear :) its the top of the holster that will stick to the skin.
I really can't wear an undershirt in the summer for a few resonds:
1) Any undershirt would have to be fairly tight,as my shirts aren't all that loose. I tend to wear loose clothing for a girl, but not very loose, and certainly not as loose as guys shirts
2) Before moving to TN, I lived in Michigan. I can take the cold. Up where I went to school I would be trugging through mountains of snow every day. Now, I love the weather in east TN, and it really doesnt get THAT hot here, but considering i have ZERO heat tolerance, I really really can't have another shirt on in the summer.

How about sewing up a pouch of sorts, that you can slip over and pull up to the top of the kydex and hold it in place with velcro so you can remove it for laundering when needed. You'd have to remove the leather wings the clips are attached to to slip it on and take it off. Make sure you put the soft (fuzzy) portion of the Velcro on the holster so when you don't need the pouch you can wear it against your skin.
Just a thought...

Sheep Skin
I have used Sheep Skin glued to the back of my CTAC.
Look at SheepSkin.com. I used the seat belt strap cover, cut it along the seam to make it flat, and used spray adhesive to attach it to the CTAC body
I use Under Armor heat Gear T Shirts in the hot Texas summer.
This set up works well. it may seem like the Sheep Skin will add bulk but it compresses when you ware it.

I know I'm the exception, but I always wear an undershirt unless I'm at the beach. Did this even through 16 years of Texas summers.

Sure you will. You should be able to find it at pretty much any drugstore.

Yes. Any drug store, walmart, etc. will have it. Look in the pharmacy area with the foot care supplies. Moleskin's normal use is preventing blisters/protecting exsisting blisters. You can get a thin flat version or a thicker padded version.
The problem you may have, though, is getting a big enough piece. You may have to line up 2 pieces and cut them down to size.
Though, sometimes you can find it in rolls.
Should only be a few bucks.
