    Hybrid Holsters

I've been making kydex sheaths for about six months and recently made a couple of holsters for my Colt Pony.

The next step was to make a leather/kydex hybrid holster. I made one for my Kahr PM9, one for my Pony and one for a compact 1911. I've got to say that these are the most comfortable holsters I've ever worn. Totally discreet and very secure. BTW this bad boy is tuckable!

I find myself wearing one for a day and then going to my shop and shaving 1/4 of an inch here and a half an inch there.

Recently I made a second one for my PM9 using slightly thinner leather. It is the most comfortable of all. The only drawback is that it is slightly more difficult to reholster.

I gave my first PM9 Holster to a gentleman who runs the gun counter at the local pawnshop to try out. He told me today that it was his opinion as well that this was the most comfortable holster he'd ever worn. Pretty nice to hear that from someone who carries a gun everyday at work.

Here are a few pics, I welcome your comments and questions.

    My latest and greatest...

Made for a 3" 1911. Cut to allow a full firing grip and still keeps leather between the slide and the wearer.

I realize this particular style is very popular but I simply can’t imagine wearing that slab on my hip all-day-long. Ok, let the bullets fly!

No bullets will fly from me...

    Saber,

I wear mine at about 4 o'clock on a Wilderness Frequent Flier 5 stitch belt. I've carried the 1911 3" and it was quite comfortable.

When I carry my PM9 (which is most of the time) I actually forget that it is there.

The leather that I used on my PM9 holster was about 5 or 6 oz and is very thin. Add to that the .060 kydex and you have very little holster thickness.

The clips are pretty wide apart and that distributes the weight.

If I'm not pocket carrying then I am using one of my homemade holsters in this style.

    Definately works for me!

    Take care,

    Rick

Don't knock it till you try it.

Everyone...lets all chip in a couple bucks and buy Saber a CrossBreed, or comission the OP make him one for his carry.
