Great site. While we were in R&D we ordered alot of supplies from them. Good company.

BTW when you are making holsters, I'd recommend keeping to .093 for it's rigidity.

I got some great magazine holders from Brian at Kytex, KYTEX Shooting Gear.

Great service and excellent concealability due to being very flat to the belt, unlike some mag holders, which are about twice as thick due to the clip and spring and stuff.

Sure would like to be able to find some of the ultra-thin stuff FIST uses. Oh my, maybe the .028 at Plastics 2000 is it? I've previously purchased from knifekits, never found Plastics 2000.

Sorry for resurrecting such an old thread. Found a great step-by-step guide on building your own Kydex holster. I thought some of us might find this link useful. Or interesting to say the least.

Blackhawk Serpa, $30.00 at Academy Sports. I have one for my Glock, Taurus, Ruger and HK. So far, no complaints. I also have some Blade Tech holsters.

This old thread is about where to buy kydex to make your own holster/gear.

Back on topic, Knifekits.com, and I used the .093" kydex on my holster. It's not real pretty, but it's functional and very comfortable. Those are Raven Pancake wings. They are well worth the $20.

Great information here. Thinking of starting my own build based on this thread. Is a box cutter really the best way to cut kydex? And, is the oven really the best method to heat it with to make it more pliable?

    Hi Matt
This is an older thread and normally we do not allow 1st time posts that are only inclusive of self promotion but, since the topic of this particular thread is specifically about where to buy Kydex...I will allow it.

Old thread, but I thought I would add another vote for knife kits. Index Fasteners is another good source but you have to e-mail them and is really only good for large orders. Also, I generate a lot of small waste pieces, and I use some of them, but if somebody wants some scraps just to play with I would send them for the cost of shipping. Most of it is in the 2x8 inch range.

I still wanna know where to get the ultra-thin kydex FIST uses. Waiting 7 weeks and paying $90 for a pretty simple holster is not cool.

    That seems well thought out.

As for thickness, it really depends on your application. I've been playing with .06 lately for some less durable ideas, but for sturdier things, I'd go with .09.
Everything cj said.....0.09 is very hard to break, so it's the most durable for holster making. I've also seen 0.125, but its not recommended for holsters and you would have a hard time getting it to form to the detail of the gun. Knifekits has pretty good prices and a lot of different colors. They also have some off brands that are cheaper than Kydex.
