When standing, 4:00 is most comfortable because it rests against a flat area of my body behind the hip. but if I lean over the gun butt prints, and if I sit in a chair or in the car the gun jams into the seat behind me and is uncomfortable.

I've found that 3:00 with a severe (25 degrees) forward cant works best all around. I can sit in chairs or couches, drive my car, bend over, etc. with no discomfort or printing: and I can draw from a seated position.
In the heat of the moment, what matters is what your body knows -- not what your mind knows.

I wear my XD-40 at about 3-3:30 with a pretty severe forward cant. I'm about 5'10" and 215#. I find that in that position, I can sit down and not have the butt of the grip print. It is a little more comfortable to have the gun at 4:30, but I find it prints more when sitting.

    Cheers!

I ware it at the 4 o-clock position also. and driving a sporty car with wraparound seats for 2 days to AZ from WA. nothing better. I do have 2 mags in about the same position on the left for ballance. it also helps in the car.

    edit: 5-11 about 200lbs

It is comfortable and when you get your "spot" you will know it. You may have to experiment to find the most best position for you. i carry my 27 around 4 o'clock with a slight forward cant. I sometimes don't even notice it anymore.

My "sweet spot" is 3:30 to 4:00 according to the pants I am wearing, the angle will vary with the weapon being carried.

For me it is the spot where the but of the gun is no longer pressed into my back when I sit in my truck. I would to move it further back for concealment or forward for access, but that is a good middle groud for me. It ends up being about 3:30
