The Galco CCP Paddle holster one of the better concealed carry holsters made. It has an open top and an adjustable paddle. The paddle can be adjusted for different belts. http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterPG3.as...=135&GunID=153

Not sure where their lead time is at right now, but I know Mark Garrity offers one:

    And so does Kramer:

It has a hard polymer paddel on back and is adjustbale 360 for cant. One of the easiest on/off paddles I have (I am a holster junkie). It is still very secure with a a good belt. I suggest Havana Brown, in color.

I used a paddle holster for years for plainclothes/ off duty carry. Last week I got a Comp-Tac Gladiator OWB for my Sig 220 Carry. It keeps the gun butt closer to my body and conceals better than any paddle holster. There is nothing inside my pants to dig into my body like the edge of a paddle and the holster is securely attached to my belt. I cannot imaging going back to a paddle. I strongly suggest giving it a try.

I have a Mitch Rosen Premier in all leather like this Comp-tac and it does conceal beter than a paddle, and is very comfortable. Actually it is for the P228 which is the same size as your P229. Youw ere asking about paddles so that is what I commented on, but this type of holster is very nice also for easy on/off.
