Holster Review

I purchased a IWB holster and OWB mag pouch for my G26 from Nick Matthews Leather and wanted to do a well deserved review. Although, I am late, I wanted to wear it for a while before submitting. This has become my favorite EDC holster, beating out my Crossbreed.

Nick was great at communicating with me on what I was looking for. He even told me there would be a delay on the mag pouch due to the upcoming holiday weekend. However, I was pleasantly surprised when he contacted me and told me he would be able to start work earlier than planned.

I received the holster and mag pouch within 2 weeks (I’m 99% certain) and was very impressed with the quality and workmanship. The holster was tight as usual, but broke in nicely after a day or so of wearing them.

I recently returned from a 2 week vacation which involved driving approx. 11 hours each way. I wore my pistol the entire time in the car and while on vacation and never had a problem with the holster being uncomfortable or bulky.

I wore light t-shirts and never had any problems with concealment. The only thing I noticed, when I got out of the car, my shirt would catch on the belt straps. I DO NOT think this is an issue with the holster, but with my choice of shirts.

As you can see in the photo’s, I’m a little on the “hefty” side and still had no problems with concealment. I’m very impressed with the holster and mag pouch and I recommend Nick if you are looking for a high quality custom holster for a great price.

That's a nice looking holster.

Looks good! I'm looking for something like a high rise pancake holster for my xdm 45 and also a double mag pouch (uses 13rd xd45 mags).

How are the snaps? Hold well? Do they snap harder than necessary?

The snaps hold excellent, I believe they are called 'pull the dot' snaps. They were hard to snap initially, but became easier with use, but they still require a good sharp pull to make them release. I found it easier to start the snap at the bottom and roll it up to the top. I've never used a holster with this type of snaps before, so it did take some getting used to.

I like the Crossbreed and it is comfortable, but I always knew it was there. With this holster, I forgot I had it on several times. Also, as a personal preference I prefer leather over kydex.

Looks very nice. I don't even use the snaps on any of my holsters, I just thread the belt through.

No problems with one handed reholstering. I don't know if it's double leather or what, but the opening is stiff and hasn't collapsed. I've had no die transfer either, which makes it a win all the way around.
