New alternative method of carry....surprisingly comfy.

So Mrs W. and I went to the Knob Creek Machine gun shoot for her first time, my fourth. We met Mitch of www.glocktech.com. He manufactures a "semi mexican" kydex holster, IWB. The wife is now a proud owner of a g26, and I EDC a G23. This holster is supposed to be worn AIWB, but I am simply too fat. I wear it at the 3:00 and it is nearly invisible. I wore it today on a VERY long car ride in and out of shoppes and restaurants, and it was very comfy, relatively secure. Go to his site and check it out if you are a Glock owner. I was skeptical, but am no further. We purchased a Reverse Carbon Fiber and a Black.

How does this setup work?Does it hook to a belt loop?Does the rope get in the way of your draw?

Wow, I am blown away by the complete lack of basic firearm safe handling in that video. For a Glock Armorer he should know better.

The string does loop around the belt. The kydex has a 20 lb drop pressure so if it falls out of belt it is most likely not going to hit the ground. He was walking around with a G26 hanging off his belt in the open. The draw pressure from the holster is only 8 lbs. You draw the whole unit from the waistband, holster and all then violently "snap" the gun from the holster. The slide can be manipulated with the holster on So you can load the gun in the holster then rack it. Lessens ND chances. Wont be my EDC but very convenient for situational use when necessary.

Trigger holsters have existed for a while now, and they were disused before. IMO they are not a good option.

I don't think I'd use this personally as I'm too fat for Appendix carry :) Also, I like to have the pistol held in one place by a traditional holster. However, in something like a Maxpedition Versipack this may work very well. I've never been too impressed with the Velcro "holsters" they offer for those types of bags with CCW pockets. In combination with something like this, I think C1 carry in such a bag may work.

Maybe I'm stupid, but I thought the holster was supposed to secure the gun's position in relation to the rest of your body to allow you to have a consistant drawstroke for the weapon when you really need it.

I mean, I could be wrong...

This thing looks like it would shift in your belt, both horizontally, vertically and in terms of grip angle...

I wore it from 8 AM yesterday til 8 PM all while making a long road trip from Kentucky. In and out for pit stops, shoppes and restaurants. I used a good leather belt and the gun went nowhere. I wore it at 3 oclock. It will not be an everyday rig for me, but very good for occasional use.

While it may have use for some people, I'll also pass.

Unless you intend to carry while practicing wild monkey (or domesticated monkey) type acrobatics,..I think this apparatus will work well in average daily use.

I note that the weapon in the video has a clip draw attached, as well.

Seems as though the clip draw is pretty important to weapon retention looking at the video.

I'll definitely pass. In 15 short minutes, this guy has proved he has NO respect for basic firearm safety rules;Thefore the natural question of safety while using this 'holster' comes up .(And the fact I'm not a Glock owner, and according to our video host, a Glock is the only weapon "worthy" of this holster. )

I'm not ready for this one thank you. I'll pass. My Glock wil have to be contented riding in a Simply Rugged CID.

If you flip that coin, it'll tell you that the MIC appears to be doing it's job very well. ..:wink:
