Hoffner High Ride Revolver Holster - Opinions?
I have a 2-1/2 inch barrel S&W model 66 revolver - a stainless snubby that holds 6 rounds of .357 magnum. Sometimes I carry this and have been searching for the "perfect holster". I found the attached holster on the Hoffner website:
Hoffner Holster website
The holster is named the ITP Ultrex Miurage revolver holster, and is made of kydex and leather. The revolver is positioned inside the waistband and high on the belt, such that the wide cylinder of the gun is just above the belt, fitting in the natural indentation of the wearer's side. The fairly narrow barrel of the revolver is worn inside the waist band, where it would produce only a small "bump" compared to wider semiauto slides.
I have never seen one of these holsters, except on the web, and am reluctant to spend $65 and shipping without some user feedback. Have any of you seen or used this holster? How does it look to you?

I have one for a 4 inch gp100 I'd like to sell. When I had the revolver I tried it, and it didn't work for me at all. The top end weight of the revolver constantly made the holster go awry on my hip and the barrel would start coming up and out, making the gun hang sideways on my hip, not concealed at all. It wasn't very comfortable either.

I had one. Couldn't sell it, so I gave it away. Very uncomfortable and top heavy. Awkward to draw and re-holster!!!

I agree, those are 2 negative reviews out of 2. I think I'll save my money and stick with the DeSantis Scabbard for now. At least it works.

Desantis Speed Scabbard for N frame

You are right. I just checked the Desantis website and the "Speed Scabbard" without thumb break (the one I like) is only made for S&W 629 revolvers in the 4 inch barrel length. I guess the shorter barrel N frames are rare enough that DeSantis doesn't bother to make holsters for them.
The DeSantis Speed Scabbard without thumb break is a great OWB revolver holster. It reminds me of a clamshell, and covers the hammer and sight area well, to prevent them from snagging on your clothes.

I've seen it and it looks good in concept....the hardest part to conceal, the cylinder, rides high....but it looks like it would ride waaaay to high for me to be comfortable with it.

The best one I have seen for this is the Kramer "Thompson" IWB holster, I have one for a "N" frame 27 with the 3 1/2" bbl and it does a great job

With enough barrel in the waistband (4"+) it may work, but I think it would be too top-heavy with anything less.
Bud,
I can only imagine who told you that! No N-frames, eh

+1 on the Kramers and also check out the Sparks HSR. Both are excellent high rise revolver rigs

Not a fan
Just really not a fan of any 'hi ride' holsters--and not at all for revolvers.
Old age and arthritis prevent me from a comfortable draw with most high ride holsters, and any revolver with a barrel longer than 4 inchs.
Do a search for Little Feather Leather. He has done some good work for friends of mine and I am going to order a holster for my 6.5 inch barreled 44 Special.
