MTAC holsters to be offered with black leather

Just saw this posting on Comp-Tac's site and thought I'd post it as a PSA for those that might be interested.

    Comp-Tac : Products

According to the order page for the MTAC they should start shipping the 3rd week in March.

They look pretty nice, I wonder if the black backing will be prone to bleeding with sweat?

They use leather from black cows.

Probably not. I'm sure they've tested it for that or are using a dye they know doesn't. Otherwise, that would be a major oversite.

You are probably right. I found it interesting they don't die the backing on their chestnut holsters but are on the black and I've heard of other lower cost manufacturers having bleeding issues with black which is why I wondered.

I called today and ask about that. They said they buff the front and back until no dye comes off and then they apply a sealer. I ordered one today so we'll see how it goes.

Yep. That's how most holster makers deal with black.

I have a G19 EXO and had a Crossbreed Supertuck. The black dye on the holster would rub off on the slide..Hopefull the Mtac doesnt do that. The said they have sold alot of them so far and have had no problems. Hopefully they are right.
