    Carry Belt Comparison

Can anyone give me a "first hand" comparison between a Galco 1.5" carry belt and a similar belt by the Belt Man?? I currently have a Galco C4 and it seems to be a well made belt, but was soliciting other opinions for a belt to carry a Wilson Combat, Bill Wilson Carry in an OWB hoslter rig. Any firsthand info would be appreciated!

There will no comparison, what so ever, between a Galco belt and a belt from The Beltman. Jim makes a nice belt.

I have a Galco SB2. Its a good belt. I dont have any experience with the Beltman. But I do have a great custom made leather gun belt from Hays Holsters. But I dont see how any belt could carry a rig any better than my Galco. Out of all my belts, the Wilderness five stitch is my "go to" belt. Great for full size pistols with infinite adjustability.

Al speaks the truth. There is no comparing the Galco belt to the Beltman belt. The Beltman belt is much stiffer because of the two layers of leather that are sewn together. You can hold a Beltman belt straight out about 1/3 of the way from the buckle and it will hardly sag. You can't do that with a Galco belt. The Wilderness instructor belt is good, but when you need a semi-casual/dress belt...............they are a no go and too tacticool looking.

I like my Beltman belt, but I like Al's belts better. I have two of his.

I don't think it is the same Galco belt you are looking at, but I have a Galco "Matrix" belt and love it. It does not feel as stiff as other gun belts, but it is very strong and carries the weight of a heavy pistol without sagging or stretching. It is a synthetic material that looks like a matte finish black leather, and only costs about $30. I have several different gun belts, but the Galco is my favorite "dressy" belt.

I had a Beltman belt in the past. The workmanship was superb; it was a beautiful piece of leather. However, because it is two pieces of leather back-to-back, it is very thick. Several of my holsters would not fit the belt because of its thickness.

I do like my Beltman belts. Super stiff, but thick. Just something to consider regarding the type of trousers, dress pants you wear.

    Lived and learned

Not wanting to spend close to $100 for a gun belt I ordered the Wilderness
    1 1/2" 3 stitch. Found it lacking.

Not wanting to spend close to $100 for a gun belt I ordered the Wilderness
    1 1/2" 5 stitch. Found it lacking.

Not wanting to spend close to $100 for a gun belt I ordered the Wilderness
1 3/4" with stiffener. Still lacking.

So, admitting I had outsmarted myself I ordered a Beltman! Couldn't be happier. It supports a full size Colt 1911 or S&W N-frame with aplomb.

I cant believe a Wilderness 1 3/4 w/stiffener is lacking. I carry my full size pistols on a Instructor five stitch with no problems. Very good, secure gunbelt.

    Different strokes...

Different people have different definitions & expectations for terms like "good", "excellent", "comfortable" etc. Let me put it this way: whatever the Wilderness 1 3/4" will carry the 1 3/4" Beltman will carry better. For me the Wilderness tops out at K-frames, around 36 - 38 ounces.

Seen and wore many a belt in my 78 years but have found none that would compare to my Beltman.
Its a shame that youth is wasted on the young.
