What was your very first premium holster..?
Mine was a Milt Sparks Roadrunner that was made for a Colt Gov 1911. I ordered it from MS back around 1986-87. Arguably one of the best owb hi-ride concealment rigs ever designed.
The original Roadrunner was designed with the retention band placed around the trigger guard.
Here's what it looked like ....

I liked it so much that I purchased another Sparks Roadrunner for a satin nickle Colt Officer's Model that I bought when they first came out. :)
What was your first premium or custom made holster..?

Back in 1986 I got a UNS and a GSS from Ken Null. It was for one of the early Glock 17's. They both lasted me 20+ years.

los....nice pic & nice holster but---my understanding is it isn't so much a retention band as a stiffener to help in keeping the mouth of the holster open
so as to ease re-holstering the gun with one hand. though it may serve double duty. cool.
as i've noticed about others--that they do not always do as i think they will nor often as they say they will.
this not only makes life interesting, it makes it dangerous too.
For Sale 1985 Toyota Supra. one owner, 82K, will pass inspection, only needs some body/rust patching

Ahhhh,.that makes sense.
Although, I remember I could actually adjust the tension on the band to obtain a lower or higher coefficient of friction of draw. Cool, in deed.

To the OP...Depends on what you consider "premiuim" I guess. Myu first holster was a Galco CCP for a G23 in Havana Brown. Loved it and still do , thought it was the ultimate until I started getting into customs. My HBE Com III for my 23 is my faorite of them all but something to be said for my Mitch rosens for my Sig P228 and for my old G27. My wife has a Brommeland Max-Con clone from Secret City weaponeers and it is a pretty darn nice holster too.

I made a Galco OWB for a 1911 my first quality holster.

Wow. It does not get much more premium. That is setting the bar high for the first one.
