    New holser for Public Defender

Here is a new holster I made for my Polymer Public Defender.

I designed the holster after my work changed their rules and I could no longer carry in the office. I needed a holster that I could leave on without the gun in it and could reholster my gun easily when I went to lunch or went home. I donít like kydex next to my skin so I made the back out of leather. I also wanted one that was smaller than the two clip type of hybrid holster that I was using.

I really like the Polymer Defender, well enough to make it my EDC.
I’m not a real fan of Taurus, but they are the only ones who make one like this.
It’s the smallest and lightest “big bore” revolver there is (other than a Charter Arms .44) at even close to its price point.
I tested it out quite a bit before I carried it, and in fact had to send my first back to Taurus for a crack in the frame. Their customer service is terrible, but eventually they sent me a new one, and it has been fine.
Loaded with the Federal OOO buck designed or it or a good 45LC load it packs a lot of power for a snub nose revolver.
You will never convince some people that it is a viable self-defense gun, but my personal tests proved its worth to me.

3 pellets up close with each shot IMHO is gonna be painfull and deadly,You might even consider the 000 buck in first 3 cylinders and 45 LC in next three in case you need more penetration and accuracy due to distance

It is a 2 1/2 cylinder and a 2 1/2 barrel, It is quite a bit smaller than the standard judges.
Total weight loaded is 27.4 oz.

The Federal OOO buck is a four pellet load.

My wife has the Judge and I really like it. Obviously it is not a CC gun. But I do carry it as a woods gun. I have enough invested now in my 357/38 that I just can't afford to change again to the defenders. How well do you handle the 45 colts? Have you shot anything hotter than cowboy loads? I know Taurus grips are great, but man-o-man....
By the way, Last time I checked taurus website they just reintroduced the snub 44 special. It's tempting.

The manual recommends 255 grain at 900 FPS as the max load for mine, so that rules out the heavy loads like Buffalo Bore.
I have not done extensive load testing in 45LC but so far it is as accurate as any 45 revolver Iíve shot out to about 25 yards

Here is a video of some shooting I did last time I was out. All was off hand except for the 25 yard group, that was shot from a rest.

I donít find the recoil painful, but it is a real handful if you shoot it one handed.

Nice holster, and good shooting on the video. I just got a Judge PD UL and it is a handful for sure. But I don't think that any bad guy would like being shot with either the 000 Buck or a 45 colt round traveling roughly 900 fps.
