Your thoughts on CCW for disabled or handicapped individuals?

In April, 2010, a pickup pulled out in front of my motorcycle as I was riding on a local highway, leaving me on Social Security Disability and unable to walk without the use of at least one crutch and sometimes even a wheelchair. My right side sustained the most serious injuries, so my crutch is used on my left side, which is good since I'm right handed. I've tried waist packs, cross draw IWB and strong side carry. I'd love to hear from anyone else out there who is "CCW-challenged," and what works best for you. Thanks!

trailside----good choice. as to your challange...a good instructor can help you out. many and varied over the years have been methods 'created' for individuals needs.
training in the 'new' methodology is often the key. the instructor you are looking for will have a slew of guns, grips and holsters to work with.

    claude,
So far, the safety's still in good working order. And thanks for the input! Although I've carried and shot handguns for 25 years (also former USPSA competitor at the local level), seeking the advice of an expert is a good idea since many of my notions are long-set.

My Uncle has lost portions of several fingers on both hands and just got (about a month ago) his CCW. He also has some other issues including a above the knee amputation on the left leg and loss of hearing on the same side.

I saw a small pack hooked to a crutch handle with velcro that I thought was pretty neat at a gun club meeting that I went to. The guy wasnt very mobile, he spent most of his time in a wheelchair but with the aid of the crutch he could get up and move short distances.

I inquired about he and he said that he told most people he kept his cigarettes in them and that seemed to sastify them. What he really had in a was a 5 shot .38 that he kept for "emergencies".

    Just something to think about.
