My first attempt at a mag pouch
To stave off boredom on my day off, I decided to break out the leatherworking supplies from my time in 4-H and make a magazine pouch.
Here I'm working on imprinting an image into the leather.
this is a close-up of the dragon I embossed into the leather. when it's wet, leather is pliable like clay, so you can get raised edges and such.
Holes punched for stitching (not all of them, I added more just before stitching it because I decided to change the stitch pattern slightly)
here I've treated it with a compound called Neatsfoot oil, which protects it from moisture, and gives it a darker color.
and the finished pouch after stitching.
I feel like I've accomplished something today
