    Made my first Hybrid

After giving much thought to doing this project, I finally picked up the materials to make a hybrid.
I had several commercial ones before I started making my own leather holsters, and they always felt very comfortable to me. So now it was time to experiment!
I can see some things I can improve on, but overall I'm not disappointed. I made this for my Glock 19/23.

Looks good especially for a 1st timer.

How much money do you have in your holsters materials?

Did you form your own Kydex?

I had the leather from my leather holster fabrication, 3/4" ply wood, hinge, C clamp and toaster oven so:

Kydex: enough to make about a dozen holsters and some odd pieces to make clips, heat resistant sponge for press = $35
    Heat gun: $25
    Rivets and rivet setter: $8

There's a good tutorial here: Leather Kydex Hybrid Holster Kits Tutorial Video DIY How to | Old Faithful Holsters
He sells complete kits if you just want to see if it's for you. I'm really not sure the template is a must, I made one but still needed to do some fixing in sections using the heat gun. The good part about the heat gun is that you can mold a small section at a time without redoing the whole shell.

It took me about 1 1/2 hrs to do, but I have material for leather holsters which I've made for all my guns, like dye, and finishing products. By contrast, making a leather holster is an investment of about three days part time between cutting leather. dying, treating, hand stitching and molding.

This is a leather holster I made for my Sig 250:

    looks pretty nice.

curiosity question: why not extend the kydex all the way to the muzzle?

Good question Dragon. This particular holster is made for a Glock 19/23, but the trigger guard area on most Glocks are the same dimensions. Therefore, it will fit perfectly for almost every model Glock, long, short etc.
