It depends. I switch between a Glock 19, a Browning HP, a P7M8, or a 1911. All carried with one spare magazine. I also carry a Kel Tec P32 as a BUG with no spare for it usually. Rarely I carry an N frame S&W with 6 in it and 12 more in moon clips when I feel like it, but that it typicaly open carry at the gunshop while working. All the semi auto
holsters are IWB, the revolver is an OWB.
To answer your question, at most 15 in the gun plus 17 in the spare plus 7 in the BUG. At my least, 6 in the gun, 12 spare, and 7 in the BUG.

95% of the time 13 (Glock 36 6+1 and a spare 6 round mag). The rest of the time 27 (Glock 21 13+1 and a spare 13 round mag).
8+1 in the gun and two spare 8 round mags

Voted on the high side because like others all depends on what I am carrying at the moment. Every handgun I own I have at least 4-15 mags for it and in the case of a revolver 4-15 speedloaders.
Normal say for the 1911 or any single stack carry would be one mag in the gun, two mags in a carrier on the other side and the 4th mag in a position where I can get to it from an awkward position just in case. Revolver same thing, two speedloaders on my belt and one in a pocket. For the Glock 19 or other hi cap, one in the gun, two on the belt.
My BUG if I am carrying it is ussually AIWB, ankle or pocket normally may have one speedloader or mag available for it.
As far as carrying it all quality, quality, quality. Raven holsters and mag pouches, Galco and other major manufactures, nothing but reinforced gunbelts or riggers belts. Some of my handguns I have a dozen holsters for. I also dress around the gun and what I am carrying. I do not own a car but ride my harleys all the time so I am not out to make a fashion statement. An oversize shirt, sweatshirt or in my case a leather vest covers a lot of what I carry.
"A first rate man with a third rate gun is far better than the other way around". The gun is a tool, you are the craftsman that makes it work. There are those who say "if I had to do it, I could" yet they never go out and train to do it. Don't let stupid be your mindset. Harryball 2013
13+1 in my G21 IWB at around 10:00 and a spare 13 in a Fobus single mag carrier at around 7:00. This is currently my only set up.
