Just picked up a Ruger LCR 357 and was wondering how or what is the preffered way to carry extra rounds?

Well, for everyday use...when I do take my SP101 along...I prefer speed strips.
I have three speed loaders, but they are quite bulky IMHO.
I would put a few speed loaders in my car, but on my person the speed strips stay in a pocket quite nicely.OMO

When I carry my SP-101 I use a Safariland Split 6 holder and HKS Speed Loader.
The rounds sit 3 on each side of the belt.
Mine is over 20 years old.
This is the link to the updated model.

The split style holder is made by Wild Bills at WWW.Wildbillsconmcealment.com. They make outstanding carry equipment
These work good, and decent quality : $13.99 - $16.16

Look like leather, etc. and have lasted me. Otherwise, you have nylon and leather.

Those split styles are badass what a great idea. Do they conceal pretty well?
I too have the Safailand Split 6 for an SP101. I found that mine (newer than Old Schools?) do not work well with the HKS speedloaders. I switch to the Safailand comp1. They do conceal ok (YMMV).
My preferred reload carry is still speed strips. For me this is the easiest and most concealable. As with any method be sure to practice, practice, practice.
Sorry for the super newb question, how does the speed strip work? Do you take the bullets off it one at a time?
You can check out some you tube vids of Mas Ayoob. I think he does a good job demonstrating how to use the speed strips. Strips are slower than speed loaders but strips are easier to conceal.
