When I go running I use a 6" bellyband, they work great and you can get one for around 20 bucks! The great thing about them is that you don't need a belt to hold it up, so wearing shorts or sweat pants is not a problem. Very comfortable if you get the right size, always get a larger than the one they say is your size. Only problem is the retention when bending over at extreme angles, stretching etc....good luck getting in shape! Being in shape gives you a distinct advantage in terms of self defense and life in general.
