Looking for OWB holster with a high ride...

I want to get an OWB holster that rides high, as high as possible. Also, I prefer it to have a high back to keep the metal part of the gun from touching the skin. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I would start by looking over all the DC supporters who advertise here..

Beyond that, understand that there is no standard for holster ride height. One maker's high ride is another's standard ride. If you can't see the holster in person, one visual index in photographs is to see where the trigger guard is in relation to the belt, since grip length and other gun features can be visually misleading.

Just one other comment is that "high ride" and "compact pistol" border on being mutually exclusive terms for a concealment holster. In general, to keep the butt of the gun tucked in close to the body, the holster relies on securing the lower half of the gun (forward of the trigger guard) with the belt. Compact handguns with short barrels don't offer as much gun length to grab onto, which is a practical limit on how high a small gun can ride.

Take a look at the Milt Sparks NLG and the Garrity Gunleather 2-C Specials for a couple of examples of high-ride holsters.

Look at the Silent Thunder line at Garrett Industries (Garrett Industries, LLC Designers/Manufacturers of Custom Kydex and Leather Holsters and Tactical Gear). Leather-lined Kydex. Lots of mounting options. Rotatable.

Here's what my Glock-36 rides in... FIST, INC.

Note the holster with the Glock in it...rides high and tight!

Just keep in mind that (w/ regard to OWB holsters) the higher the holstered firearm is over the belt - the stiffer your gun belt needs to be and the tighter you'll need to cinch up your belt.

If the belt is not stiff enough (or cinched tight enough) the firearm will tend to flop down.
The holster maker also needs to be aware of the potential "flop" problem and factor that in to the design and construction of the holster.

Also if the "carry individual" has a bulging mid-section the firearm butt will really jut out lots more with a high ride.

So if you have a spare tire don't even consider one.

My High Slide works great for a high ride carry. However any high riding holsters do require a real stiff gun belt.
