Now I certainly see the difference...

This is a discussion on Now I certainly see the difference... within the Defensive Carry Holsters & Carry Options forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; I saw that holster on Matt's site, is that yours? I'm impressed. I've got a nice shoulder rig in undyed horsehide on order with him ...

    I wish it were mine

I didn't mean to imply that the Del Fatti holster was mine - I picked the photo off the Del Fatti website because I thought it was attractive. I wish I did own it - it appears to be for a compact Glock like a G23, in looking at the gun behind it.

I would guess that the holster leather is elephant hide, based on the grain pattern, and is dyed a gray color (or is that the natural color of elephant?) The darker trim leather is something else. I like the two snaps for attaching it to the belt - you could put it on and off without removing your belt.

I'd like to know what the holster cost. Given the exotic leather, I would guess in the $150 dollar range or more. Here is a shot from the Rafter Gunleather website of one of their elephant hide holsters in a black color:

I agree with you wholeheartedly, I have 3 of Gary Brommeland's, www.brommelandgunleather.com , Max Con V's and am delighted with them all. In making up your mind, may I suggest you take advantage of the SEARCH feature on this and other forums and search, on each of your possible choices, for prior feedback.

I can tell you Kevin's holsters are a lot more than good looking. Mine works incredibly well.

    Exactly, AFS!

If it was only a question of cosmetics (looks,) I'd have never gone the custom holster route. After all, I carry concealed!

But much of what is mistakened for "cosmetics" is purely functional. My Laredo Defender from Kevin @ K&D Holsters is a perfect fit for my G23. It holds is securely, but draws like lightning. It keeps the weapon snug and tight against the body, making concealment very easy. And due to the craftsmanship and materials used, it will probably last as long as the gun, with both of those lasting longer than I will.

The same can be said for my belt and double mag carrier, also from Kevin.

    Oh yes!
