Not a major issue. The only big deal would be the ammo. Civilian ammo is not watertight like the military stuff is. I would keep a reserve of ammo on-shore in the event of a fall. This way I could replace the wet with some dry stuff.

As far as water in the gun, just unload the weapon, shake the excess water out, and go about your business. Once you are home, clean and lube the weapon as you would after a trip to the range.

Stainless would my material of choice as far as the gun was concerned. A little more resistant to corrosion, and easier to maintain for wet environments.

    If it's a semi auto,
disassemble the mag. clean and lube.

No big deal, just clean it well as soon as you get home and make sure your holster air dries slowly ... wanna guess how I know???

get a glock and dont worry about water anymore.

i dont make it to the ocean much (im in montana) but when i do i carry a glock specifically for this reason. i do a fair amount of fly fishing though (im not very good, but that doesnt stop me from trying!) and carry a glock into the river with me for that same reason. ive dunked my glocks plenty (river/ocean/swimming pool) and never had a problem with premium defense ammo getting wet (although dunked ammo gets switched over to range duty).

if you dunk your weapon (glock or other) i recommend field stripping, spraying out with wd40, and proper lubing.

HK USP for me. The finish has been tested to extremes, some by me. The ammo might not work right , but usually should be no problem. I would just use it for target shooting if I did dunk it.

I've filled a few waders in my time, might want to keep gun in dry bag, where I fish the BG isn't the problem the moose are, so quick draw not real necessary, just loud noise.

well....glock might very well be my next gun but not for a while.

in my area BG is the concern so keeping it in the dry bag would be bad.

and wallet definitely stays in the dry bag with the cell phone!
