    Question about tuckables

    Hey ya'll

I have a question. If you wear a tuckable IWB holster is the "tuck" part simply an option, or is it neccessary for the stablity of the holster?

With the colder weather coming the prospect of wearing a coat over your regular shirt that you otherwise wouldn't wear when warmer would mean that the tuck isn't nccessarily needed for concealment.
Tucking in your shirt at that point would just mean another layer to go thru if gun is needed.

I have a tuckable from High Noon "Hidden Ally W/Clip".
I wear it often, great holster - I've never worn it with a "tucked" shirt. It does not affect stability.

I have and use a Highnoon Holsters Split Decision during the summer. In the winter, the tuckable option is less of a need so I generally use a IWB or OWB instead which is easier to draw from.

I have never seen a tuckable where you HAD to wear it tucked.

Um.......er.......hmmm. Ya, what they said. Its strictly an option if you need it...all SHOULD function as an IWB primarily also.

Both of my tuckables make fine IWBs.

I have a "Versatile" for a full size 1911, and a "Confidence" for my PT99, and I've worn both of them both ways. Since my usual "cover" is a Coronado Safari vest, which isn't long enough to cover them while sitting, I generally wear them tucked, but it's nice to have the option of slipping the shirt behind the holster while walking (and still maintaining good concealment, of course) if the situation doesn't look right. If I'm wearing a different vest, or a long jacket, they're usually worn outside the shirt.

(I guess I should clarify that I don't wear them both at the same time - my backup is much smaller than either of those guns)

I carry a tuckable Uncle Lou from 5 shot leather, but hardly ever tuck the shirt in, I bought the tuckable for the times that I needed to be tucked. I also have straps for the holster to change out from the clips.
