Model Specific Leather Holster - OK To Re-Purpose For Another Gun?

I have a Desantis belt slide leather holster that I purchased for my M&P Shield, I've since traded it for a Springfield XD-S.

After reading a few posts about people saying their XD-S fit their Shield holster I thought I'd give it a try, and it fits nice and snug. Of course I can't see through it to determine exact fit, it does seem to work out nicely from what I can tell.

That said, I'm a lefty and have been trying to sell the holster for a few weeks now without a single nibble, I may as well use it if possible - just wanted to get a general consensus from the board if you will.

Also, I have a Kydex holster that was made for my Shield and the XD-S will not fit, it only fits the leather one.

I'm not a fan of mismatching holsters to sidearms.

unless it is a really good fit I would not . Part of a holsters retention is the molding of the gun around the leather.

Wouldn't mind seeing a pic. There are several key indicators of what we call "fit", that are more inclusive of clearances of controls, grasping clearance, and security. Happy then to give you an expert opinion, which will then be worth what you've paid for it. ;)

I am betting your mag release on the XDS will be covered by the leather.

About half way or so the way it looks.

Decided not to use it.

Thats a good idea and there are more things wrong with that fit, I started with the easiest one. When it comes to wet molded holsters, its never a good idea to put any other gun in there except the gun it was molded on. Providing it was a good design to begin with and the "formula for success" is in place.
