Don Hume 721OT and Aker Gun Belt (low budget carry bliss)

Just wanted to post this for those who may not have a bunch of cash, but want a solid carry rig. I have had many in the past, but today just picked up another Don Hume 721OT holster for my Kimber Pro Carry. I paid $40 at my LGS out the door tax, tag and title. Matched with my Aker B21 belt it is a rock solid carry rig and I have $85 TOTAL invested in BOTH belt and holster. It never sags (if you buy the Aker you will see what "stiff" is all about) and is awesome for all day carry with ANY holster (I have a lot of IWB's I use it with too).

But don't let the lower cost of these two items scare you away. They make a great combo for those on a budget!

    Thanks!

+1. I have the 721 for my G30 and, as thick and heavy (when fully loaded) as the Glock is, the Hume handles it very well. I especially like that the Hume carries the pistol rather high, making it easier to conceal. I use a Beltman, but as long as one stays with a quality belt, the Hume 721 is a good piece of leather.

Nothing wrong with that! I use a 721 for my K frames on an A&G belt.

Is the bottom of the holster open so that a Glock 17 could fit in the shorter holster made for a 19?

Yes. In fact, I bought a holster for a 3.5" 1911 and my Kimber Pro Carry 2 pictured is a 4" gun. The barrel just barely sticks out the bottom.

I have a 721 for my Glock 23. Works pretty well and it looks good too. It's about 4 or 5 years old now and it has held up pretty well through time. Congrats of finding a set up that works for you and that you are happy with.

Well, I can say this...... I've had some Don Hume holsters over a looooong time, and with use, etc..... they are still holding up very well and still in great shape.
I have no complaints what-so-ever with anything I've gotten from Don Hume.

Looks like I may have to try the Aker belt now too.

I've found the best regular prices for Don Hume stuff here. You can find them cheaper elsewhere when they are on sale but you have to hunt.

I got the same holster for my 4" 1911. My only problem with it is that its first use was in an intense 2-day pistol course in warm weather, and that back 'shield' kinda lost its starch and started getting in the way on re-holstering. My love handles/"muffin top" shape didn't help the situation, but as a result that holster doesn't get much use these days. See the photo to get an idea of what I'm talking about. In less rigorous use it would probably be just fine.
