+1 on the OdoBan. I worked for a drycleaners for many years, who also handled restoration for fire and water damaged homes. Ozone and OdoBan are the two best ways to eliminate smoke smell. Now you probably don't have access to an ozone machine (it's also damaging to rubber anyway), but if you wipe the holster with with OdoBan, then set it outside in the sun (doesn't have to be hot outside, either) for a few days, the natural ozone in the air will accelerate the smoke removal.

I'll email Alan and make sure Odoban is ok to use first but that seems to be the overwhelming winner. I contacted the seller just to give him a heads up that it smelled like smoke since smokers often can't tell. He said he doesn't smoke but his gf does but he only took it out of the bag for pictures. I'm letting it air out for now and it seems to be getting better.

Regardless of what you did for the odor, I hope you bashed the guy in feedback and let others know the condition it was in. I'm sure some of your replies were from smokers who don't realize how sickening that small is to a non smoker.

Glad you found a winner. I had the same thing happen with a leather shoulder holster. After ~5 years or so, I don't smell it any more.
