Blackhawk Serpa - Happy B-day to me

So this past Sunday was my birthday. Wife gave me a note "I promise it is on the way" was all it said...

It arrived today... A Blackhawk Serpa for my S&W M&P 40c.

Spent some time training with it and I really like it.

    My wife is super cool!

Don't you mean quality polymer? I have a VM2 and a Minotaur M-Tac already for this weapon so going the full monty on plastic seemed the next logical step... hahaha

Actually, I had been looking for a good paddle holster for it and had been talking about the Serpa to her for a while wondering if it would be a good next step for casual days where I would not have to have a bulky item in the waist-band. I am really happy she was listening.

Re: Blackhawk Serpa - Happy B-day to me

Congrats and Happy Birthday. I wanted a Serpa but decided to go with an Itac instead. No real reason other than familiarity. I'd had one previously with a different firearm. I like all polymer type retention holsters. However, they do have limited uses due to their bulk. I use mine for training classes and occasionally at the range or when I'm camping. Aside from that, I CC far more often with a CBST.

Congrats and Happy Birthday! It's always great when the wife gets you something you really want for a present. I'm surprised no one has yet posted a comment about how "dangerous" the SERPA holster is! BTW, I have one myself--it was the first holster I owned for my Kimbr. My CHL instructor used one all the time--and I learned to keep my index finger straight and I never had a problem with it.

    THAT is a training/carelessness issue...

Re: Blackhawk Serpa - Happy B-day to me

Both are contributing factors. But, keeping your finger off the trigger until its pointed in a safe direction is a very basic rule. It is possible to draw from a Serpa without your boog hooker finding it. I've seen it done 1000s of times.
